I am not a huge bookworm, but there are times when a title will catch my eye! I happen to know someone whose child is going through some bullying and as we all know, this can be very traumatic for a some. I happen to come across this book titled "Hey, Back Off, which was written by Jennie Withers, along with Phyliss Hendrickson. This book is based on research, personal experience and information from school authorities. As you read through the book, you will notice overviews for teen readers & one for parent readers. The book takes you through the many meanings of harassment & helps you understand. You learn about the law & supporting resources. Many teens today are harassed on a daily basis, whether it be hitting, punching, verbal teasing, in or outside of school, school bus, etc.
There is very good information in this book to help your child and yourself & how to look for signs. Keep and eye on your childs moods, behaviours, not wanting to go places, etc. Please take the time to read this book if you or someone you know has a child going through this. We have seen it where children have committed suicide because of this. These bullies need to be stopped! Jennifer was nice enough to send me this book to review and I have to say every parent or guardian should have this book. Jennifer is going to give one lucky follower of my blog this book. So just leave me a comment that you would like to win this book. A winner will be picked on 1-22-12. It is funny that I just read this book and just yesterday the following was posted on facebook:
Dear bullies, The boy you punched in the hall committed suicide a few minutes ago. That girl you called a slut in class is a virgin. The boy you called lame has to work every night to support his family. That girl you pushed down the other day is already being abused at home. You think you know them. Guess what, you don't. Leave them alone!!!!! Put yourself in their place!!!!
Re-post if you are against bullying. I bet 99% of you won't. Re-post this if you're the 1% with a heart ♥
